Experience
Prior to training as a therapist I was employed as a research psychologist at the Universities of Glasgow and Ulster. My areas of expertise as a researcher were stress, family functioning, social anxiety and coping skills.
I have 20 years of experience of working with people with chronic illnesses, mental health problems, and their families and carers.
In recent years I have worked extensively with clients in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors. I have particular experience in working in areas such as anxiety, anger management, trauma and Post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviours, low self-esteem, adaptation to illness, health anxiety, domestic violence, and physical and sexual abuse.
I have worked with organisations providing support for those affected by domestic and sexual violence, and with people with drug and alcohol misuse problems.
Special Interests
I have a particular interest in working with people with anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, anger management, trauma, depression, and substance misuse. I also have a great interest and experience in working with people coping with chronic illness, childhood illness, and their families.
